Cooperations

The IP Catchment Dynamics benefits from various cooperations, be they internal (inside UFZ and the Helmholtz Association), national or international.

Questions about adequate model complexity, optimal model design and feedback/resonance between monitoring and modelling are being worked on in close cooperation with the IP From Model to Prediction. Working with the IPs Aquatic Ecosystems and Controlling Chemicals' Fate we reach a better understanding not only of biochemical metabolism and biochemical reactions, but also of ecological treatment of substances in aquatic ecosystems and in ground water.

On a national level the IP works with numerous individual groups at universities and other research institutions (e. g. Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries – IGB and Leibniz-Zentrum für Agrarlandschaftsforschung (ZALF) e. V.). The IP also cooperates with larger research associations (e. g. the DFG funded research group CAOS – catchments as organized systems). Furthermore the IP works closely with stakeholders and policy makers inside water management (e. g. Dam Operation Services Saxony-Anhalt – TSB, Federal Authority for Flood Protection and Water Management Saxony-Anhalt – LHW).

On an international level the IP participates in large, EU financed projects, e. g. ITN Interfaces and cooperates with the US National Water Quality Assessment Program (NAWQA).
